The dorsal wall of the peritoneal cavity bulges ventrally as a mesonephric ridge (crista mesonephrica) in the region where the mesonephros develops. It is bordered medially and laterally by the medial (transition to the mesenterium) and the lateral (transition to the trunk wall) coelomic depressions.
